Belinda's Storey

Welcome to the Belinda's Store blog... a collection of ideas and inspirations that float through my world. They
may come from friends, family or it may be simply something that catches my eye. I hope you enjoy. BJS

Big jewels

As veteran label St. John (one I sold many years ago on the second level of David Jones, Queen St store) campaigns to enhance their "cross-over" appeal (long known as the go-to label for the ladies who lunch and women of a certain age), they're also tapping into the jewellry market. Creative director George Sharp and designer Neville Ward turned to the St John archives, using suit buttons as a starting point for a glass pearl, agate and button necklace. Featured are some of their pearl-laden statement pieces, along with a sneak peek at their fall 2011 ad campaign with Kate Winslet.

Meet the Mavis

I was lucky enough to live in Turkey for six months many moons ago which is where I first purchased a pair of Mavi jeans. Turkish for blue.... I was super impressed with the denim quality, the cuts, the fits, and the fantastic nature in which they wash and wear. Not to mention that it was the first pair of jeans that I was happy to stay in, not itching to pull them off.
The "Meet the Mavis" campaign reminds me of being introduced to an unconventional family with lots of big personalities (sound familiar), it is lots of fun but can be daunting. At Belinda's Store we stock a wide variety of "personalities" to fit just about anyone. We are only happy to help.

Saddle Up

Originating in 1957, Saddlers swiftly became a cult label for its classic bags, luggage and accessories, attracting the likes of Jackie Onassis who rocked the iconic bucket bag. During 2009, the label rose phoenix-like from the ashes of oblivion, Saddlers's heritage design DNA forgoes the fashionable and edgy ubiquity of other brands, relying firmly on its instinct for classic quality and timeless elegance. Being true artisans, they will of course customise. Saddle up and ride 'em out. Love.

L'Amour Fou

This looks so beautiful yet so heart wrenching.

Fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent met businessman Pierre Berge at Christian Dior's funeral in 1957. Resulting in a relationship that spanned over five decades, leaving an indelible change on the way women dressed and revolutionising the fashion world.

Throughout their partnership, they were avid art collectors, amassing a collection that would rival the best galleries. Upon Laurent's death in 2008 Berge decided to sell the couple's beloved collection. Through this momentous Christie's auction, and using archival footage as well as interviews this documentary comes together deoictung the incredible life of Laurent and the relationship between these two incredible men.

Jacs and I visited the garden in Morocco they built together not long after the death of Laurent. It was incredible. So the obsession continues....

SJP in Vogue

Sarah Jessica Parker provided a rare sneak peek into her domestic life she posed for a new editorial spread alongside her family for America's Vogue magazine. Looking forward to this one arriving in the little Yamba newsagents. Love the Burberry jacket on the front cover.

Pure Joy

Don't you love when you are getting dressed in the morning that the outfit puts a smile on your face because it is all just falling in to place. I was so happy pulling on my new Leona Pins this morning as they are sprinkled with little red love hearts. Mixed with my Anne M Cramer Flynn skirt, it is an outfit of pure joy and happiness. This year has been the year of love at Belinda's Store, so the leggings are so appropriate.

Yamba Store

A few snaps of the Yamba store this weekend. The Spring Jac + Jack has arrived in delicious tones. True Jac + Jack tones with a spring splash!

And the windows - the earthly French seedling pots with the beautifully cut Jac + Jack cardi.

Then amazing Plain and Simple flour and sugar canisters that have the feel of a beautiful old pharmacy.

Kate

Jacs and I have been obsessing all week about the Canada tour and the accompanying outfits.

Love that Kate is clearly shopping on the High Street, and mixing it in with rock star designers. Very accessible.

Have narrowed it down to two favourite sites. The sites are fantastic as they break each element of the outfit down to where she bought it, who designed it, and how to get it! Be warned, everything seems to be sold out in minutes once Kate appears in it.

Love that so many are helping solve the mysteries of "What is that dress, shoe, bag, earring etc?"!

My favourite outfit is still the maple leaf red and white outfit. Too much! Too good!
And who didn't melt when Wills addressed the crowd in French. Oh la la la la!

WIM•BLE•DON

I have more than a small crush on both Roger and Rafa, and am constantly looking for new and interesting ways to use paper, so I think this is just great. Make sure you have the sound up loud to hear the actual players and game noises along with the crowd cheering.

Wimbledon always makes me homesick for London. Skipping work for the day to sit in the sun eat strawberries, sip Pimms, and generally enjoy.

Fish Story

We love everything about Herringbone.

The navy and white logo, the stripes inside the carrier bags, the custom made tissue with the little fish pattern. AA loves the underscore below the O, the typeface, the illustration. Dad is always sure to pop into the nearest Herringbone store for stand out race shirt / tie combinations.

It's all so classic and elegant, and "The Weave" just adds to an already very strong brand!
