Mother Knows Best...

Including how to look neat and tidy even when there is nothing in the cupboard to eat, and no money left in the emergency tin - like Kate Winslet does in her title role in Mildred Pierce.

A uniquely independent woman, Pierce finds herself divorced and struggling to carve out a new life for herself and her family during the Great Depression in the HBO five-part miniseries directed by Todd Haynes. Based on the novel by James M. Cain, the drama co-stars Guy Pearce, Evan Rachel Wood — and Pierce’s classic wardrobe.

Head-to-toe shades of salmon complement nearly every skin tone and add a dose of cheer to even the most intense mother/daughter conversations.

Keep your mane in check during top-down day trips with a silk head scarf. Put on a pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses to shield peepers.

Some clothes never go out of style — like a long button-down coat in a neutral tone. The casually elegant staple can be dressed up with a floral frock or down with jeans and loafers.
