Smythson of Bond Street

Have long been obsessed with purchasing stationery from Smythson of Bond Street. Simple, elegant, classic.

My last trip to London involved a slight obsession with there handbag collection. Very small collection but again simple, elegant and classic.

The latest offering is the Virginia. Named after British literary icon, Virginia Woolf, and available in three wearable shades.

Love the plum. Love the Poms.

Marc Jacobs

What a beautiful promo from Saks Fifth Avenue for Marc by Marc Jacobs.

It reminds me of Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Seurat. I have seen a smaller version of the painting in the MOMA, but have never seen the final large version that resides in the Art Institute of Chicago.

Blue Bamboo Chairs

Loving the blue bamboo chair the gorgeous girl (who happens to be wearing Rebecca Thompson) is sitting on. The chairs are not credited in the footnotes - does any one know where I can purchase?

The Odette Pom Pom scarf from Jac + Jack - this is such a lovely shot.

In store now.

Lawson Grove Milk Bar

Last stop was Lawson Grove which is very conveniently located around the corner from my hotel. I was lucky enough to order the gnocci for lunch which was quite possibly the most delicious meal I ate the whole time I was in Melbourne! It was amazing. Delicious coffee as well.

Lawson Grove Shop - 1 Lawson Grove South Yarra.

A very cold Wednesday morning in Melbourne

After a very hectic week, I simply had two appointments on Wednesday morning, then I roamed the streets, which is my very favourite thing to do. I had just viewed Anna Thomas' winter 2011 collection which was appropriate as it was icy cold on the streets. Popped into Le Lourve (where I spotted a beautifully adorned Lanvin white t-shirt). Had to walk past The Art Series Hotel - Olsen and the beautiful Blue Bottles restaurant. I think it is a really lovely concept.

Monday - working hard

Things to come to Belinda's Store

Saturday IV

A gorgeous, romantic dinner at Cafe e Cucina. It was like being in Europe.. we were completely immersed.

581 Chapel Street, South Yarra

Saturday III

Went for a quick g&t at Katuk which was great. Big open fireplaces and walls lined with books! Like heaven for me.

Katuk - 517 Chapel Street, South Yarra

Saturday II

Drove back to Queenscliff - which we fell in love with - and then jumped on the ferry to Sorrento. Lunch at Portsea Pub before back to Melbourne.

Saturday 1

We had picture perfect weather for a Saturday drive to Torquay where we sought the best coffee / hot chocolate in town at the gorgie Torquay Larder.

Love counter being padded with old hessian coffee bean sacks - so clever. Gorgeous little store.

Friday IV - Shop WIndows

Seems to be a strong "pencil" theme in shop windows...

Friday III

Lunch at Grape Seed which was delicious!

1084 High Street Armadale.

Friday II

Onto Magnolia Square to check out what is new and groovy.

Great displays using "sticks" which seems to be a very strong design theme at the moment.

Friday I

Very busy day - started with coffee at Spoonful with an old college friend (our Dad's grew up in the same street), and her delightful little boy.

Loved the clusters of fresh flowers everywhere in all types of vessels. Very warm and charming.

Spoonful 543 High Street Prahran

Arrived

Arrived late last night into Melbourne for a week of "work". Staying in South Yarra which I love. It's nice to be a little out of the city and the hotel is small enough that the staff address you by your name.

Off to Magnolia Square this morning which I am very excited about. They always have the most fabulous cup cakes.

Melbourne Film Festival

The limited Australian screening of "Bill Cunningham New York" is enough to make me jump on a plane and head to Melbourne.

“We all get dressed for Bill.” – Anna Wintour, Vogue editor-in-chief

Unassuming and unpretentious, cycling through the streets of Manhattan with his battered Nikon camera, 80-year-old Bill Cunningham doesn’t exactly look like someone to hold the fashion world in thrall. Yet every week his columns in the New York Times are pored over by fashion leaders.

Bill Cunningham New York is a profile of an independent, humble and intensely private individual – untouched by the affectations of the fashion world that adores him, and deeply obsessed with practicing his own unique brand of cultural anthropology.
